ABATE of South Carolina State Party 2006

By FastFred Ruddock - June 9-11, 2006

The chapter and members of our Coastal Region/Area have really raised the bar with this party! Don Ard, Roach, and far too many dedicated members worked hard to make this the best state party yet and it showed. Hundreds of South Carolina bikers came out to party and give thanks for the successful legislative session. The smiles on the faces of our front line legislative warriors was priceless; I'm not sure I have ever seen Jim Bronder and Dennis Welborn happier than this past weekend.

During this legislative session Dennis, Jim, Doc, Jeff, and Dave served us well as forward observers. They worked the statehouse and local meetings with our legislators. More importantly they relayed the information they learned in a timely manner to me; I used this information and a little more from a few key senator to create the alerts you received via email and phone. The membership poured on the fire and we got results. That is what team work is all about. Each member of our team is very important; a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

The location of this year's party was beautiful. We had a large pond, swimming pool, showers, stage, and pavilion. Volunteers made sure everyone had plenty to eat and lots to do. DB Bryant put on one hell of a show playing three sets and lots of new material; if you loved his show check out DB's web site and buy a shirt or CD. DB and his band had to leave in the early morning hours to do another show in Winston-Salem before heading to Oklahoma for yet another gig. Michelle the gracious host of our quarterly statewide meeting came to the party to cut up and have fun; thank you for your support Michelle.

This party reminded my that I am living a blessed life. I really enjoyed spending time with over a hundred of my closest friends plus making more new friends. There was no shortage of beautiful people at our state party. I thank each and everyone of of you for fine year and a great party.
